A dip in the Ganga

Earlier that morning, I woke up before dawn to witness the daily sunrise aarti, and to join in the bathing. The children who beckoned me into the water must have sensed some loneliness.  I jumped in to join them, all of us giggling at the slight absurdity. and they giggled as they passed the bar soap, and my now heavy salwar made it difficult to tread the surface. Yes, I survived the dip, and yes, I would do it a thousand times over.
